They should relate, not necessarily match exactly. The version that looks unplanned is two similar-but-different warm metals in one room — a brushed brass tap beside a polished gold hook. Either carry one finish through everything, or contrast deliberately: brass for the accessories and matt black for the larger fittings, or the reverse. Both read as decisions.
Quality brushed brass uses a PVD coating bonded to the metal at a molecular level, and it does not tarnish, corrode or discolour. Mark positions with tape and live with them for a day before drilling — tile is unforgiving of second thoughts.
