Mirrored glass with aluminium frame

The almond — a tall pill in a slim metal frame, narrow enough for the walls a round mirror cannot take. Chimney breasts, cloakrooms, the space between a window and a corner. Pill or oval, the shape is having its moment for a reason: it holds the softness of a circle while keeping the height of a rectangle, which is what most bathroom walls actually want. Strictly it is a pill rather than a true oval — straight sides with fully rounded ends, instead of a continuous curve — and it is that flat run down each side that lets it sit so comfortably beside square tile and rectilinear joinery. At 500mm wide it sits comfortably above a basin unit of 650 to 750mm. Three finishes, so it can be matched to the metalwork already in the room rather than introducing a fourth material to the scheme.

Does it need an electrician?

Yes. Amande is hard-wired to a fused spur rather than plugged in, so it should be installed by a qualified electrician in line with UK bathroom wiring regulations. It is IP44 and Class 1 rated for zones 2 and 3.

Which finish should I choose?

Match the metalwork already in the room rather than the tiles — taps, shower valve, towel rail. Chrome is the safe match for most existing bathrooms. Matt black suits darker or more modern schemes and gives the strongest outline against a pale wall. Brushed brass is the warmest and works with wood, stone and warmer neutrals.

Will it fit a narrow wall?

That is what it is for. At 500mm wide it is one of the narrower mirrors of its height, which suits cloakrooms, chimney breasts and gaps between fittings. As a guide, a wall mirror looks right at roughly two thirds to three quarters of the width of the vanity beneath it.
