Shower Trays

The floor is where a shower is felt most. Elani's shower tray collection is cast in low-profile stone-resin, just 30mm deep, so it sits flush with the tile rather than stepping up to meet it. No join line, no visible lip, no compromise between an easy walk-in and considered design. Each tray channels water away invisibly through a hydro-reflective, anti-slip surface, finished with a colour-matched waste grate as standard. Available in White, Black or Sand, in a full run of sizes, every Strata tray installs like it was always part of the room.

What is a low profile shower tray?

A tray under about 45mm deep. Traditional trays sit 80–120mm proud of the floor and need a visible step up into the shower. A low profile tray at 30mm sits almost flush with the surrounding tile, so the step is barely perceptible — most of the visual effect of a wet room, without tanking the whole room.

Can a shower tray sit flush with the floor?

Nearly. A tray can be recessed into the floor build-up so the top surface finishes level with the tile, but that requires depth beneath it for the waste and trap, which usually means a suspended timber floor rather than a concrete slab. On a solid floor the practical answer is a 30mm tray sitting on top, which gives a step small enough to walk over without thinking about it.

What size shower tray do I need?

Measure the enclosure opening rather than the old tray, and measure in three places — walls are rarely square. Standard UK lengths run 700mm to 1800mm, with 800mm and 900mm the most common widths. A longer tray with a screen rather than a door is what turns a shower into a walk-in.

Do low profile trays drain properly?

Yes, provided the waste is right. A shallow tray needs a fast-flow waste to clear water at the rate a rain head delivers it, and the tray itself should be manufactured with a built-in fall to the outlet rather than relying on the floor beneath. Anti-slip texture matters more on a low tray too, since water sits shallower across the surface.
